How to sort a list of tuples in ascending order by the first value of a tuple in Python

    return n[first_index]   
   
def sort_tuples(lst_tpl): 
    return sorted(lst_tpl, key = get_first_value) 
   

lst_tpl = [(6, 9, 7), (8, 3, 1), (0, 5, 18), (17, 16, 4)] 
first_index  = 0
print(sort_tuples(lst_tpl))

run:
